Today a small group of us took a trip to The Accordia housing development in Cambridge. The purpose of our visit was to see how the Architects/Designers had used design codes to develop housing in this area.
It was apparent from entering to leaving the development, that the Designers were looking to provide modern and contemporary housing for its residents. The thought prior to visiting the development seemed a bold move to me in regards to the City of Cambridge and its renound historic architecture.
I was pleasantly surprised whilst walking around at the quality and specification of the materials and design, along with area planning and conservation of the existing natural environment in many areas which helps the 21st century architecture seem sensitively comfortable and suiting to its environment.
